Festival of Canestro: Moliterno: 
(Tuesday 9th August and Wednesday 10th August) 

This festival celebrates the cheese which, last year was awarded the IGP. Made from sheep and goat milk, the taste is spicy and aromatic. During the event you can attend the "Cagliata" (curd) - the preparation of fresh cheese - as well as taste and buy the famous cheese at the booths. 

Blues In Town Festival: Metaponto area:
(Thursday 11th August - Monday 15th August)

In the Policoro amphitheatre,  the ‘Blues in Town’ festival returns for its eighth edition. Five days of concerts, music workshops, jam sessions and performances by street artists are completely free and visitors can also enjoy food tasting, art and solidarity.
The music festival, developed by the cultural association "The Apple of Odessa”, has become one of the highlights of the summer in the Metaponto area, ranking among the best blues festivals in Italy.
On an international level, the event has already hosted artists like Sharrie Williams, James Senese, Tony Coleman, Sugar Blue, Rocco Papaleo, Enzo Avitabile and Neffa.
The Blues Town festival also tours, and will engage, all the villages of Basilicata that it visits in its "musical journey".

 

'Cantine Aperte': Sant'Alngelo, Le Fratte: 
(Friday 12th August - Monday 15th August)

A tradition that presents local wine tasting accompanied by a succession of tasty cheeses, salami and other typical products in the cave cellars within the cliffs, surrounded by majestic rocks. This is the opportunity for entering into a journey of taste enlivened by music, dancing and shows. 

 

Metaponto Beach Festival:
(Tuesday 16th August - Saturday 20th August) 

The Torre Mare Castle hosts the Metaponto Beach Festival. Music, sun, sea, sports, culture and entertainment are all available in this historical location.  

 

Festival of the Bean: Sarconi:
(Thursday 18th August and Friday 19th August)

The "Festival of the Bean' in Sarconi has taken place for thirty years. Seventeen varieties of this excellent product of the Italian gastronomy IGP, praised for its soft pulp and fast cooking. Following the path traced along the downtown streets, you can taste "His Majesty" the Bean in a variety of recipes from starters and main courses to jams and ice creams. 

 

Festival of the Red Aubergine: Parco del Pollino: 
(Thursday 25th August)

It's the size of an apple and the shape of a tomato and other 'Festival of the Red Aubergine' is devoted to this rustic plant of African origin, grown in a small town located in the Parco del Pollino. The rich fruity flavour reminiscent of the prickly pear, spicy and bitter tasting, makes it a special product and an ingredient used in many dishes.
