ABOUT BASILICATA

Basilicata is a small region bordered by Campania to the east, Puglia to the north and east and Calabria to the west. It has two beautiful and contrasting coastlines; a small stretch on the Tyrrhenian sea, centred around Maratea, and a longer stretch on the Ionian sea. It is the most mountainous region in southern Italy, with almost 50% of its area covered by mountains. It has a wonderful climate, being continental in the mountains and Mediterranean by the coast. Being a relative latecomer to tourism, Basilicata still retains its authentic charm, and it is a region for travellers keen to explore, with archaeological remains, medieval towns, Romanesque churches, Renaissance frescoes, unspoilt countryside and gourmet cuisine all waiting for you. We want to tell you all about Basilicata…
